Somewhere along the way, a lot of us decided running was for other people. The ones with the tiny shorts and the GPS watches that beep at them. The ones who talk about splits.
If that's you, if you're 40-something or 50-something +, you haven't laced up since your kid was born (or since college, or ever), and you're a little nervous about showing up to a running group and being the slowest one there, keep reading. The Running Evolution Pack Run Club was made for you.
What Is the Pack (Social) Run Club?
The Pack is Running Evolution's membership-based social running club in Seattle. It's a standing crew of friendly, encouraging people who meet for group runs every week at all paces. There are no tryouts, no pace requirements, and no one gets dropped.
We're built for three kinds of runners in particular.
Midlife runners. Your body in your 40s, 50s, and beyond isn't the body you had at 22, and that's fine. Our coaching respects that. We focus on consistency, smart progression, and staying injury-free, so running becomes something you can enjoy for decades.
Social runners. Some people run for PRs. Our members mostly run for the conversation. The Pack is where you'll make real friends, the kind who notice when you skip a Tuesday and text to make sure you're okay.
Fun runners. Fun runs, costume races, the occasional dance party, and the post-run taco. If you think the best part of a 5K is the finish-line photo, you're our people.
Why a Social Running Club Works Better Than Running Alone
Anyone who's tried to start a running habit solo knows how it goes. You're motivated for about two weeks, then it rains (it's Seattle; it always rains), and suddenly the couch wins.
Running with a group changes that math in a few ways.
Accountability that doesn't feel like a chore. When people are expecting you, you show up. Not because you feel guilty, but because you actually want to see them.
Built-in coaching. Running Evolution is led by Coach Beth, an RRCA-certified running coach and certified personal trainer who has helped thousands of non-runners go from zero to 5Ks, half marathons, and marathons. You get guidance on pacing, form, gear, and training without having to become an expert yourself.
Permission to go slow. This is the big one. Most injuries and most burnout come from running too hard, too fast, too soon. We go slow on purpose. Conversational pace is the whole point, which makes it easier on your joints and a lot more fun.
Community in a city that can feel hard to crack. The "Seattle Freeze" is real. A running club is one of the easiest ways for adults to make new friends, because you're side by side doing something together, not sitting across a table trying to make small talk.

The Pack is based around Green Lake in Seattle, one of the most runner-friendly spots in the city with a flat, scenic loop that's perfect for all levels. We run several days a week with both morning and evening options. [Insert current schedule or link to schedule page.]
"But I'm Not a Real Runner"
We hear this constantly. Here's our answer: if you run, you're a runner. Speed doesn't matter. Distance doesn't matter. Taking walk breaks doesn't disqualify you.
Many of our members started with Running Evolution's beginner programs having never run a mile in their lives. Some are coming back after injuries, surgeries, pregnancies, or a decade of "I'll start Monday." A lot of them are now the ones welcoming the new folks.
You don't need to be in shape to join a running club. Joining a running club is how you get in shape, and have a lot more fun doing it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Am I too old to join a running club?
Nope. Many of our members are in their 40s, 50s, and 60s. Our approach prioritizes injury prevention, strength, and sustainable pacing, which makes running a great fit for midlife and beyond.
How fast do I need to be?
There's no minimum pace. Our group runs are all-paces, and walk-run intervals are welcome.
Do I have to race?
Not at all. Plenty of members never race. If you do want to try one, you'll have a whole crew to train and celebrate with.
What if I'm a complete beginner?
We recommend starting with our beginner program if you're brand new. Once you're comfortable, the Pack is the natural next step.
How much does membership cost?
$135/mo: First run is free.
Ready to Find Your Pack?
If you've been waiting to feel "ready," consider this your sign. Come run with people who will cheer you on, slow down with you, and probably talk you into tacos afterward.
